This is the story of a girl who flies to Rio alone after getting dumped…

CARIOQUESE is the musical travel diary of a Parisian woman who left for Rio de Janeiro. Each song tells a moment lived there: a breakup, a first baile funk in Rocinha, men who move way too fast, a rebirth. The sound blends Latin pop, baile funk, rap, montagem and reggaeton, in French and Brazilian Portuguese.

A broken heart in Paris, a suitcase packed overnight, a ticket to Rio de Janeiro. There, everything gets rewritten: baile funk nights in Rocinha, forró until dawn, first words of Portuguese and men who move way too fast.
Little by little, the Parisian becomes carioca: she keeps her accent, but Rio changes her rhythm, her gaze and the way she loves. Each song is a step in that transformation.

CARIOQUESE is a French-Brazilian music project: the musical travel diary of a Parisian woman who left for Rio de Janeiro. Each song tells a moment lived there, between Latin pop and baile funk, in French and Brazilian Portuguese.
“Carioque-se” is a Brazilian Portuguese verb in the imperative: “become carioca”. A carioca is someone from Rio de Janeiro, and by extension anyone who has taken on its rhythm and way of life.
A blend of Latin pop, baile funk (Rio's Brazilian funk), rap, montagem and reggaeton, with touches of forró and raggamuffin. The lyrics switch between French and Portuguese.
Baile funk, or funk carioca, is the party music of Rio de Janeiro's favelas: an electronic percussion beat called tamborzão, heavy bass and sing-along hooks. CARIOQUESE blends it with Latin pop and rap.
